Birthday and Weekend

So, I'm a little late in wishing myself a happy birthday on my blog! Had a great day on Friday and a wonderful weekend!

Friday Mary Beth took me out to lunch and that evening I went to Dan and Maria's house and Maria, Lisa and I hung out, played Wii and we all had birthday cake. Yes, I made a wish! I got phone calls and facebook messages...it was really nice!

Saturday I got to spin and my gym friends decorated my bike and bought me a Vera Bradley bag full of goodies. They took me out to breakfast afterwards as well. I spent the rest of the day passed out until Kara wanted to go to dinner. We ran into Dan and Maria at dinner :)

Yesterday was the Tour de Cure. It was a horrible day weatherwise, pouring rain, thunder, cold, yuck! I went up and rode 10 miles and had a blast! I cruised through the ride and just enjoyed the scenery and thinking of my mom. Thank you all you supported me with donations and/or encouragement! It means a lot to me!!!

So, I'm trying to not to freak out about the move. I've got so much to do...and I start 3 weeks from today!!! Crazy, but exciting at the same time!!!

4 day weeks

So I heard on the radio that schools are starting to go to 4 day weeks, deciding to remain closed on Mondays. The normal school day will be extended by 1 hour for the days that school is in session. They hope that this will save on transportation, heating/cooling and other operational costs. My question is can't businesses do this? How much would it help employee morale for long weekends? I took Friday off and had Monday off for Labor Day and the extra time was really needed and refreshing. As Americans we work so hard and don't have long vacations or shorter work days, that I think its time companies seriously start considering this...

The long weekend was great! I got to meet Sugar, my Dad and Mary's new puppy. She's nuts and ALL puppy! Cute and fun, but a little much too handle, especially for Lupe. Speaking of Lupe, I realized that yesterday was the 12 year anniversary of her coming into my life. We have had quite the 12 years together and I truly cherish every day that I have with her.

Hope you all had a relaxing weekend and are settling back into the grind...

The End of August?

Can it really be the end of August already?! Where did the summer go? Summer, what summer? That's probably more accurate. :) Weekend of memories for me...Grandma's yahrzeit was yesterday, today would have been Chelsea's 15th birthday and I have lived in my place for a year. Its amazing how time flies sometimes...

Spent Saturday with Densie which was fantstic! Shopping, laughing, good food and just catching up with an awesome friend. Lupe did double time wiggles when Densie came in...I love that.

Speaking of Lupe, her hearing seems okay. She can hear somethings...I wonder if she still has her selective hearing. However, I noticed she has a slight limp sometimes, favoring her front right paw. Took a look at it last night and realized its the nail that she hurt back in May. Looks like the nail is growning out and is a little tender. Of course I will keep my eye on it and not tell Ryann...she doesn't need the reminder of that.

Can't believe next Monday is Labor Day...so not ready for summer to be over!!!

Mixed Emotions

Big holiday weekend coming up which is great because I really need a break. This is a transitional year for me in that I don't have any concrete plans and am not doing the same thing I had done in previous years. I'm excited to create new traditions and memories but will miss the people I created my old memories with. It is nice not to have to shop, pack and travel this weekend. Its great not to have to board Lupe and worry if she is okay.

So what are my plans? Take it easy, read, organize, ride, take Lupe (who is officially a Chicken Dog today) for walks, sit by the pool (if the rain ever stops), go to a cookout and just be me. What else could a girl want to do? :)

Have a happy and safe July 4th weekend!!! Make some lasting memories, spend time with those who mean a lot to you and celebrate that fact that we live in the U.S.A.

The 3 R's

Relaxing, reminiscing and reconnecting...That was the theme of the weekend (good job on that one Rand!)

What an amazing time. Got to spend time with Randi, Rich, and the girls before the three of us headed to Maine. Bri-bri and Da-da are just absolutely beautiful! We had lobster dinner and played Guitar Hero.

Friday was shopping up in Kittery. We checked into our room (which was fantastic) and went to dinner. Randi & I even had the berry infused drinks that we did the last time we were there. After we got back we went and boiled in the whirlpool and later in our room...lol...

Saturday was our workout day, more good food and massages. We went to one of Randi's favorite places for dinner. Fantstic scallops. More boiling in the whirlpool that night as well.

I learned a lot about them and a lot about myself. I may not have a sister, but those two are the closest thing ever!!! Really want to make this a tradition...

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Quick post as I leave work for the long holiday weekend. I want to wish everyone a very happy and safe Thanksgiving. Take the time to look around you over the weekend and be thankful for all that you have and all that got you to where you are. If you aren't happy where you are, be thankful you can do something to change that...and then go do it!!!

Also, quick birthday shout out to my BF Courtney who will 30+ a few tomorrow! Love you so much and can never thank you for all that you do for me and others. I'll be thinking how extra special Thanksgiving is this year cuz' its the day to celebrate you!!!

Happy Thanksgiving all!!!

Not a good weekend...

Yesterday was truly one of those horrible days. A few bright spots, but all and all horrible...

Dad is having problems with one of his lungs. They don't know the full story or reason, but it seems like there is still a lot of fluid in there. We are waiting to hear the results of a CT scan. He was also on the wrong dosage of one of his medications and has had a few tough moments with dealing with things. They have also told him that his kidney function is not where they would want it to be and that he may have to go on dialysis.

Found out that his father (my Poppi) has been in the hospital down in Florida since Thursday. They discovered some polps and one of them was sent for testing. He should be released today or tomorrow and we will wait for the test results.

Finally, my Dad's dog, Chelsea, passed away yesterday. Mary found her and Jay took care of her. She will be creamated tomorrow. Chelsea was a VERY small maltese that my Mom and Dad got back in December 1994. She was absolutely adored by my father. This dog wanted for nothing and was a very happy dog. She barked a lot and wasn't the type of dog I would have owned, but she was a good dog and made both of my parents very happy. She had been fading over the last few months and they were preparing to put her down, but she decided it was her time to go.

When it rains, its seriously floods in my life...

Sunday Night, blah

I hate Sunday nights. Always have, probably b/c its the end of the weekend and Monday morning is just a few short hours away. Although this is a super short week b/c my shoulder surgery is Tuesday morning so I'm only working on Monday.

Not the greatest weekend for me, but not the worst either. Dad & Mary were supposed to come visit on Saturday but they ended up in Vermont and not New York. I did get the apartment cleaned and ran a bunch of errands. And did I mention the knitting I got done?! :)

Today I went to Steve's house to check on Zippy-Cat. Zippy is doing well, very lonely. Its hard to be in the house, let's just leave it at that. Afterwards I went to CB's and went to get pumpkins with her wonderful family. Alex and I fed the animals (goats, sheep, a donkey, calf) which was SO much fun!!! Caught up on my bills and am now trying to get some dinner in my stomach...its only 8:05 pm and I haven't eaten since breakfast. Not that I'm hungry, but I must eat.

What a weekend!!!

I had the BEST weekend! Headed up to NH to visit cousin and her family. Not only was it amazing to see her, but her 2 daughters are so much fun (and cute). If I ever figure out how to post pictures, I will...

We went to a street fair, walked on the beach, cooked lobsters, danced, talked, shopped, and really just enjoyed our time together! I didn't want to leave!!!

I stopped at my Dad's house on my way home. Chelsea (his almost 14 year old Maltese) is fading. I personally think she may have had a stroke. Its a tough time for him right now, but she is just not herself. I did get to spend some time with her, which was good, but she has no spunk anymore.

Lupe got HUGE hugs when I got home. So did Steve. He had a fun weekend (maybe a little too much fun), but what I think that matters is that he missed me and did spend some time by himself. He'll have the opportunity this coming weekend, as I'm going to MA b/c my brother and his girlfriend are coming to visit. I've never met her, it should be fun!!!
